Lake Wylie July 4th Fireworks celebrations are the highlight of Summer. A fun-filled day swimming, boating and back yard parties all lead up to a grand finale – fireworks! Here is a quick list of several of Lake Wylie’s biggest fireworks shows and July 4th celebrations. Daytime events feature live music, parades, cookouts and more. We hope everyone has a fun and safe July 4th holiday!

Lake Wylie and Camp Thunderbird July 4th Fireworks
Where: Highway 49 near the Buster Boyd Bridge, Lake Wylie SC 29710
Best Viewing: From land or by sea – perhaps the single best fireworks show for boaters on Lake Wylie. Drop anchor within site of the Buster Boyd Bridge then sit back and enjoy. There are also plenty of lawn chair and barstool options available at the Lake Wylie Plaza parking lots and surrounding restaurants.
Advice: Charlotte-Mecklenburg police department prohibits parking along NC Hwy 49 prior to the Buster Boyd Bridge. For those planning on watching the show by land we recommend staking out a spot around Lake Wylie Plaza by late afternoon.
Admission: Free, although donations are greatly appreciated. The Lake Wylie fireworks show is 100% funded by donations. Donations can be made to: Camp Thunderbird Fireworks Fund; One Thunderbird Lane; Lake Wylie, SC 29710.
Tega Cay 4th of July and Birthday Celebration
Where: Glennon Center, 15083 Molokai Drive, Tega Cay SC 29708
Best Viewing: Pack a blanket or chairs and head to the lawn at the Glennon Center or 18th hole of the Tega Cay golf course.
Advice: The city of Tega Cay shares its anniversary with our country. This July 4th marks Tega Cay’s 37th anniversary. Make a day of it! There are several activities on the Tega Cay peninsula throughout the day including a land parade, boat parade, waterski show, fish fry and many kid friendly events. Lots to do and see in Tega Cay for residents and visitors of all ages.
Admission: Other than the Lions Club Fish Fry, all Tega Cay July 4th activities are free.
Carowinds Celebrate America Fireworks show (July 4th & 5th!)
Where: Carowinds Amusement Park
Best Viewing: Visitors to Carowinds on July 4th will have multiple viewing options to choose from. Watch the action from one of the towering rides like Copperhead Strike, Vortex, Windseeker or SkyTower; or get a view from the ground on the North Carolina side of the park.
Advice: Carowinds hosts a fantastic firework show but don’t plan on rushing home. Once the fireworks are over there will be thousands of folks headed toward the parking lots. Be patient and go with the flow. The park will remain open an extra hour this evening until 11pm.
Admission: Regular Carowinds admission prices apply.
Belmont NC Fireworks and Summer concert series – Red, White & Belmont
Where: Stowe Park, 24 S. Main Street, Belmont NC 28012
Best Viewing: Find a spot on Main Street in the heart of downtown for the best views of the Belmont NC fireworks show. The launch area is located just east of downtown, behind Hawthorne Street.
Advice: As part of the city’s summer concert series, this is another Lake Wylie July 4th fireworks show you can make into an entire afternoon/evening of family fun. Water rides, face painting, ballon animals and more. Live music begins between 6 and 7pm.
Admission: Free, although the city accepts donations and sponsorships are available.
US National Whitewater Center Fourth of July Celebration (July 3rd & 4th!)
Where: US National Whitewater Center; 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy, Charlotte NC 28214
Best Viewing: The standard $6 parking fee will get you access to the center and Belmont Abbey Island for best viewing within the park. Or spring for exclusive access to the Terrace Access Party with prime seating & views of the fireworks display – among other benefits.
Advice: Have prior commitments this July 4th holiday? No sweat – the USNWC hosts a two-day celebration. A full line up of activities, live music and fireworks will be held on July 3rd. There will be steady turn over both days, but be prepared for a heavy volume of guests by 7pm each evening. Activities include a SUP, a Battle Royale and a variety of yoga classes throughout the day – in addition to regular amenities.
