At a Glance –
The city of Tega Cay SC is situated on a large peninsula in Lake Wylie. The community gets its name from the Polynesian language: “Beautiful Peninsula”. There are many outstanding community features and amenities. Multiple parks, ball fields, walking trails, marina and beach front swimming are all found on the peninsula.
Tega Cay was originally developed in the 1970s and marketed as a semi-retirement community and weekend get-away destination for Charlotteans. At that time the area was comprised mostly of small bungalow style houses situated along the waterfront or overlooking the golf course. Since then Tega Cay has grown considerably and housing options vary widely. Tega Cay’s close proximity to Charlotte, high quality of life and superb school district are all prized by local residents.
What We Love
Consistently ranked “Best of” on regional and national lifestyle lists. Strong sense of community with convenient shopping, dining and retail. Terrific school district and more.
What We Don’t
One way in and one way out: Tega Cay Drive. The single ingress/egress can cause traffic delays and headaches during peak hours.
Something for everyone. Single Family, townhomes and condos. Waterfront, golf course and interior lots. Homes come in a variety of ages, prices and construction quality.
Around the Block
Local dining, retail and activities are plentiful, or stay on the peninsula and enjoy any number of community activities. Popular Windjammer Park is just one of several parks on the peninsula.
