Around the Park
Goat Island received its unusual name from textile engineer Stuart Cramer who facilitated the exponential growth of the town and for whom the town was named. As early as 1910 Cramer released goats on the small island to control vegetation.
Goat Island Park can be enjoyed by all family members – 2 legged and 4 legged. The dedicated dog park is one of few in the area. The park and walking trails are also ADA friendly.
Goat Island Park is wooded with mature hardwoods, vegetation and wetlands. Throughout the development of the island, special measures were taken to preserve these natural elements.
