Mount Gallant Elementary situated on 28 acres of land was first built in 1977. The campus is north of downtown Rock Hill. Building additions were added over the years to serve the current enrollment of approximately 500 students. The school serves students and families living in Rock Hill near Lake Wylie.
Mount Gallant Elementary has received local, state and national recognition through grants and certifications. The school has received the Palmetto Gold award for several consecutive years. The school takes its name from Mount Gallant Road, a connector running from Rock Hill west towards York and Lake Wylie.
