At a Glance
Northwestern High School, with a current enrollment of roughly 1,900 students, serves students and families living in Rock Hill – particularly on the northwest side of town, as its name implies. Northwestern High School consistently ranks as a top high school in the region.
In collaboration with Winthrop University, University of South Carolina, and University of South Carolina – Lancaster, Northwestern students who meet certain criteria may obtain college level credit for courses taken during their junior and senior year of highschool. Advanced Placement (AP) courses also enable students to obtain college-level credit and exemptions.

Northwestern High School offers students over 200 different courses including International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, Honors, and College Preparatory courses. The school utilizes a 4×4 block schedule.
In a recent graduating class of students, those who took the SAT earned an average composite score of 1433. Those students who took the ACT earned an average composite score of 20.8.
